The Village is in good hands

In 2016, we pledged that we would not seek another term if we had not delivered on our promises.

Accomplishments in two years:

  • Village Facebook Page created 4/2016, now has 1.5K followers
  • Eight on-time digital and print issues of Castletonian
  • Website enhancement: pages added for History of Village Hall, History of Noyes Engine House, Village Parks, Castleton-on-Hudson Community Garden, Castleton-on-Hudson Farmers and Artisans Market, Repair Café, Castleton-on-Hudson Main Street Association, Kiwanis Club
  • More than doubled attendance at Holidays on the Hudson

  • Castleton-on-Hudson Community Garden (COHCG, est. 4/2016)
  • Castleton-on-Hudson Farmers and Artisans Market (COHFAM, est. 6/2016); chosen as Hudson River Ramble featured site 2017
  • Repair Café (est. 7/2017)
  • Riverkeeper Sweep 2016, 2017, 2018
  • Castleton-on-Hudson Main Street Association (COHMSA) est. Summer 2017 as NGO non-profit with membership from Village & nearby parts of Schodack

  • Riverfront Park Clean Up 11/2017, in collaboration with COHMSA

  • Rensselaer Land Trust Estuary-Funded Hudson River access study participant (report anticipated summer 2018)
  • Successfully negotiated with County for transfer of 2 Green Ave, the vacant lot next to the Noyes Engine House, to the Village at no cost to residents

Money Saved

  • Eliminated picnic and end of year party, at a savings of $2,500 to Village
  • Eliminated table fee for Village-wide garage sale

  • High Mowing Organic Seeds 2016, 2017, $400 worth of seeds annually for COHCG
  • Trees for Tribs, NYSDEC Estuary Program, 250 trees and technical assistance for Vlockie Kill in Schermerhorn Park
