Ron Johnson vs Russ Feingold

Wisconsin deserves a Senator who is guided by the best available science.

Ron Johnson is an extremist who denies climate science. This is dangerous denial. Midwesterners will experience increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather events due to climate change, including heat waves, floods, and lake-effect snow. In 2011, 11 of the 14 U.S. weather-related disasters with damages of more than $1 billion occurred in the Midwest.

Ron Johnson OPPOSE
  • Dangerously ignorant: ""I absolutely do not believe in the science of man-caused climate change," Johnson said. "It's not proven by any stretch of the imagination. It's far more likely that it's sunspot activity or just something in the geologic eons of time." (source)
  • Doesn't understand the difference between the climate system and weather variability: "We can't predict the weather next week!" (source)
  • Showing his disdain for education in general, Ron Johnson would also, "love to abolish the Department of Education." (source)
Russ Feingold SUPPORT
  • Feingold accepts the science and has consistently voted and spoken out for action. Feingold has said, "Climate change is real and we need to address it." In 2003 Feingold sponsored so-called "4P" legislation, which would have used the Clean Air Act to reduce four pollutants at coal-fired power plants, including carbon.
  • An advocate for campaign finance reform who understands that industry shouldn't be able to buy elections and corrupt government.
