Powell United Methodist Church
Appointments Are Required
Read these steps prior to making an online appointment
Appointment must be made in the name of the taxpayer. Only one appointment is needed if married filing jointly. If someone else is making the appointment, enter that person's name and phone number in the "Notes to Counselor" box.
A separate appointment is required for each tax return, including returns for previous years. If you need a return for a prior year, indicate in the "Notes to Counselor" box what tax year (i.e.-TY2023). Arrive 15 minutes early to fill out the prior year intake form.
Double check spelling of name, phone number, and email address for accuracy.
If an email address is provided, the taxpayer will receive an email appointment confirmation and two email appointment reminders.
An Intake Booklet must be completed before we can prepare your return. You can download this Intake Booklet and complete it at home prior to your appointment. The booklet may also be picked up in advance at the Powell Branch Library. Ask the librarian for the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide forms.

Please read these arrival instructions prior to your appointment
Taxpayer who feels ill or has COVID-19 symptoms should not enter the building; call 865-229-4429, and priority will be given to rescheduling your appointment.
If you have not completed your paperwork in advance, arrive 15 minutes before your appointment to complete it.
If you are married and will be filing jointly, both you and your spouse must sign the form giving us permission to file your return electronically (eFile).
Only taxpayer (and spouse) named in the appointment reservation will be allowed in the tax preparation area. A person with Power of Attorney or personal assistant may be allowed to accompany the tax payer.
Please cancel your appointment if you no longer need it, either on this site or by calling 865-229-4429, so that someone else may use that time.
If no appointments are available, try again later or try another site. More appointments will be added as volunteers become available.
