Mooseberry Stampede Mountain Bike Race
Note: Mooseberry Stampede needs a new RD and volunteers to continue in 2013 and beyond.
(5yrs was our original goal for the race.)
Date: Saturday, June 9, 2012. Check in: 12:30pm Race Starts: 1:30pm.
A Palmer Colony Days event.
Route: Same route as last year - 10.5 mi loop.

Registration: $25 pre-registration until June 6, $30 race day. Plus $3 parking fee (iron ranger) or Mat-Su Borough parking permit on race day. (see volunteer opportunities)
Pre-registration is expected to be on active.com (preferred, closes 1am June 9) or by snail mail (must be received by June 1). (will announce when this is open)
You must be 18 or over for online registration. Those under 18 should contact RD about registration. (We're trying to work out details.)
Suggested additional $5 to support Matanuska Greenbelt Trails (the group that worked on the signs) or Valley Mountain Bikers and Hikers.
join us for the Mooseberry Stampede, a 10.5-mi
mountain bike race on
exciting twists and turns of hand-crafted single track of Mooseberry
Mesa and Moose Poop Loop, then out through UAF Farm fields, past Matanuska and
Long Lakes, and return via Long Lake Connector trail. Start and finish at
Crevasse Moraine trailhead.
Check in: 12:30pm (after Colony Days Parade)
Race start: 1:30pm
Limited to 60 riders. Pre-registration (active.com) is encouraged to ensure a
spot and help us plan. Pre-registration mail forms can also be by mail or at VMBaH office, 247 S. Alaska,
Palmer (between dentist office and SWCD office), 4-7pm, many Tuesdays. We will accept race day registrations, if space is still available, but will be $30, rather than $25.
Fee is $25 for either Race or Recreational division, but we encourage optional donations for Matanuska Greenbelt trails or Valley Mountain Bikers & Hikers. We can accept riders under 18, but contact the RD for paperwork.

All riders and volunteers will get the latest edition of the Matanuska Greenbelt trails map (11x17in).
This is a celebration of trails on the Matanuska Greenbelt (MGT) (www.matanuska-greenbelt.org) as well as colony history and agriculture. We all eat! We plan to have local agricultural products (= ICE CREAM) for post-race food. Spiffy trail maps of the Matanuska Greenbelt area are available on MGT’s website. Maps of the race course are still the old ones on our race website for the time being.
Income above expenses and any
designated donations will go toward immediate needs in the Matanuska
Greenbelt. See registration form.
Thanks to the land managers that allow us to use their land for this race: Matanuska-Susitna Borough Crevasse Moraine Trail System, Alaska State Parks Matanuska Lakes State Recreation Area, and UAF / Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station / Matanuska Experiment Farm.
