I am a postdoctoral research associate at Univ. of North Carolina Chapel Hill since Dec. 2015. Prior to that, I did my Ph.D. at University of California San Diego.
Research Interests: Turbulent flows, Geophysical Fluid Dynamics, Ocean and Climate Modeling.
Recently, as part of the collaboration between research groups at UNC and UCSD, we developed a multi-scale ocean turbulence model called SOMAR-LES which combines the adaptive grid refinement feature of SOMAR with turbulence resolving 3D LES model. High resolution large-scale simulations can be performed with SOMAR-LES at a reduced computational cost. This will give us insight into the effect of small-scale turbulence on the large scale flow evolution.
