Following the workshop, we are setting up a mailing list for everybody to discuss issues arising in this area. This could include:
- questions about virtual / social / interactive research
- links to relevant papers
- event announcements
- job adverts
Postings to the group will be moderated and we do not anticipate a large volume of emails.
If you would like to be added to this email list, follow one of these options:
a) I have & use a gmail address.
Make sure you are signed in to gmail. Then just click the link below called 'Apply for membership' and you'll be in.
b) I want to set up a new google account to join.
Go ahead and set up an account (see FAQ below), then link the link called 'Apply for membership' and you'll be in.
c) I don't have a google account or gmail address and don't want to.
Click the link - 'Subscribe to this group' and then you can join with a non-gmail email address.
You will be asked to put some information regarding your identity (e.g., a link to your research webpage). This is so we know who is part of the group.
We are also learning how to use Google Groups. But here is some experience we'd like to share about google groups...will add more later...
1. Do I need a Google Account to be part of a Google Group?
You don't need a Google Account to be able to read and join in the discussion through your email. However, in order to make the most out of using Google Groups, you will need to set up a Google Account.
2. I'm convinced that setting up a Google Account is a better option for me to make the best of the Google Group. Now do I need to use Gmail to set up a Google Account?
No. When you set up your Google Account, click "I prefer to use my own email address", as shown in the image below, then you will be able to enter your existing gmail or non-gmail email address (i.e., where the invitation was sent to) to set up your google account.
3. I have a Google Account. But the invitation was sent to my email address which is NOT associated to my Google Account, what should I do?
If you have a Google Account It would probably be easier if you use your Google Account. In this case just ignore the invitation email. Make sure you are logged on your Google Account, visit this page, and click "Apply for membership". You will be asked to put some information regarding your identity (e.g., a link to your research webpage).
