license fees and for the cost of a basic physical needed to obtain 
their license. Substitute drivers may submit a request for 
reimbursement with copies of the bills that were paid after the 
substitute has driven 5 trips in the current school year.

VIROQUA AREA MONTESSORI SCHOOL
Montessori E1 Teacher (Multi-Age classroom, Grades 1-3)

Duties of Position: Develop and implement developmentally-appropriate lessons and practices that reflect the Montessori approach to education for the 6-9 year-old while addressing district Essential Learning Standards, Assessments, and Common Core State Standards.  Responsible for the social and emotional well-being of all students in your care.

Special Skills/Education Required: Must hold a current teaching license certified by the Wisconsin Department of Education. Must be prepared to teach in a multi-age environment using the Montessori principles of education with fidelity. Must be trained or willing to be trained at the E1 level in Montessori at an AMI, AMS or MACTE-approved training center. Must be child centered and able to work cooperatively with a mentor, staff and parents. Must understand the importance of literacy  and student achievement, and have the ability to identify the needs of individual students and provide interventions and enrichments as appropriate.

This person will also play an essential role in the promotion and continued development of Viroqua Area Montessori School (VAMS), which is a charter school within the Viroqua Area School District.

Additional Comments: Special consideration given to persons trained through an American Montessori Society or American Montessori Internationale NAMTA-approved training site.  Prefer knowledge of/experience with Montessori, Responsive Classroom, Guided Reading, Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), Formative and Summative Assessment, Daily 5, Response to Intervention (RtI), Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

Requires two years post-secondary education; certification as a teacher, substitute or special education program aide; effective communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; a genuine interest in youth and ability to carry out student IEPs as determined by the special education and classroom teachers.  

This position will begin at the start of the 2017-18 school year.
