Patrick Gaffney, General Manager and Head Coach 
Coach Gaffney has been coaching baseball for over 20 seasons now. He has coached all levels from Little League All-Stars, to Middle school, JV level Travel and up to Varsity High School and Travel Showcase teams. In the summer of 2008 Coach Gaffney took the 17U Northern Fairfax Falcons to various college showcase tournaments up and down the east coast in addition to managing a high school varsity travel team. A number of his players from those teams are now playing in College.

Last summer Coach Gaffney lead the 14U Virginia Renegades to six final four tournament finishes including a runner up finish at Cooperstown and Sports at the Beach. In 2010 the Renegades won the Division 1 NVTBL/AAU Memorial Day tournament as well as winning the Division 2 championship at Top of The Rock tournament in Richmond along with a runner up showing in the Virginia Open, Division 2, tournament at the Virginia Sports Complex.

Coach Gaffney is a serious student of the game and has a passion for teaching youth baseball and its applications to real life. His number one goal is for every player to develop their baseball and life skills to their fullest. In his never ending pursuit of baseball knowledge and teaching skills he regularly travels to attend numerous professional coaching clinics every year. It is his goal to further develop his players by introducing them to same advanced baseball philosophies seen at the high school, college and professional levels.


Steve Johnson, Director of Player Development

Steve is a Certified Performance Analyst specializing in striker thrower sports and holds a degree from the University of Maryland. He specializes in the Four Corners of Performance biomechanical efficiency, functional strength and conditioning, mental and emotional preparation, and nutritional support. The loop to performance is then closed with the pre-habilitation and rehabilitation exercises as they relate to pitching and hitting. 

Over the years Steve has helped both the professional and amateur, reach their genetic potential through this training method. This unique Performance program of functional strength training combined with cross-specific motor learning drills has made him one of the top coaches in the United States.

He is currently working with Dr. Tom House at the Rod Dedeaux Performance Center at the University of Southern California and Dr. Greg Rose at the TPI Human Performance Lab in Oceanside Ca. Their research is on analyzing the 3-D biomechanics of the swing and pitching delivery. The goal is to isolate the physical limitations, as well as the development of the protocols for performance and corrective training. Read more about Steve at NHA


Steve Page, Strength and Conditioning Coach

Coach Page is a native of Utah where he played and lettered for his High School team, the Bingham High Miners, in Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Track.  He also played baseball for the local American Legion team during his summer breaks.  Coach Page joined the United State Navy in 1968 and during his tour in the Far East and Alaska he played in both the inter-service baseball and basketball leagues where he helped lead his teams to several championships. 
 
Coach Page has coached all levels of baseball from Little League All-Stars, to Babe Ruth, JV level Travel and up to Varsity High School Travel teams. He assisted Coach Gaffney in forming the Northern Virginia Fairfax Falcons travel team where he helped coach for several seasons before taking a short break.  Coach Page recently rejoined Coach Gaffney and the Virginia Renegades 14U team in 2011 during their fall season campaign.

Coach Page is passionate about staying healthy, keeping fit in both body and mind, and teaching the game correctly.  He is absolutely dedicated to ensuring  that each player not only develop their individual and team skills but stresses that each player apply these same principles to their off field activities.



Paul Cosing, Outfield and Bench Coach
Coach Cosing started his baseball career locally at Wakefield High School. After graduating high school Coach Cosing went on to play American Legion, Industrial and Clark Griffith Collegiate Leagues. Coach Cosing continued his career at the professional level playing with the Tampa Bay Lookouts, in the Cincinnati Reds organization, for two more years before an injury cut his career short. 

Coach Cosing has been coaching youth baseball for over 10 years. Most recently he has worked with the Reston Warriors and Virginia Renegades travel programs. Paul has played outfield his entire carrer and has created an outfielder development program that has helped our players immensely. 

Joe Beaulac, Director of Baseball Operations

Coach Beaulac is a Massachusetts native with over 15 years of playing experience and 13 seasons of coaching experience. After a successful high school baseball campaign in Auburn, MA where he was elected into the Auburn High Sports Hall of Fame for setting school records for career home runs (25), career RBI's (99) and strike outs in a game (20), he accepted a baseball scholarship to Eckerd College of St Petersburg, FL. 

Following his years at Eckerd, he signed a professional baseball contract with the Salt Lake City Trappers of the Single A Pioneer League. After a successful first season in the minors, he moved to the Miami Miracle (single A) of the Florida State League where he finished his professional career. 

Coach Beaulac began his coaching career in Massachusetts where he coached little league, American Legion and JV Baseball. In 2006 the Renegades were born with the help of Coach Bob Lamon, Marty Reif, and Bill McLaughlin. The 17U Renegades move into their 8th season in 2010 with an overall record of 143-64, winners 6 tournament championship.



Charles Beacom, Pitching Coach
Former player under the head coaching of Pat Gaffney (Northern Fairfax Falcons), played the outfield position most of career along with some time behind the plate. Played 4 years at Paul VI, 2 under varsity head coach Billy Emerson. Won 2 state championships along with a WCAC championship. Senior year hit .335 and was awarded to the All WCAC Second Team as a Designated Hitter. 

Played 2 years at Ferrum College, freshman year hit .333 with 31 rbi's and was awarded 2 time USA South rookie of the week, 2010 USA South First Team All conference, and 2010 Academic All Conference. Coach Beacom decided to hang up the cleats in pursuit of an occupational therapy degree. 

Coach Beacom is currently studying exercise and sport studies with a minor in coaching at Ferrum College. Last year he worked with the Renegades pitching staff by calling pitches and working on hitting fundamentals with the whole team. Coach Beacom was a major contributor to helping the Renegades to the championship game at the Cooperstown Tournament. 


Justin Puentes, Catchers and Infield Coach

Coach Puentes played for Coach Gaffney on the Northern Fairfax Falcons. Justin also played four years of high school baseball at Paul VI Catholic High School. He was a part of 2 state Championships and 1 WCAC conference championship.  Justin received a conference honorable mention award his senior year. 

Coach Puentes went on to play college ball first at Lynchburg and then at Ferrum College where he is still currently playing. Justin's goal is to win the conference championship and go on to win the National Division 3 title. 

Coach Puentes coached with the Renegades last summer and has gone back to work camps at Paul VI. Justin has a strong love for the game and an even stronger love for sharing my knowledge with others.
