Additional Questions
Who can play?
Anyone in good standing with the Play! Pokemon Program is welcome to participate.  However, the State Championships is a Tier 2 Premier tournament event so some experience in Tier 1 Premier tournaments or other Sanctioned events, where playing by the rulebook (Black & White version or later) and Tournament Rules are used, is recommended.
Qualification: There is no qualifying event or invitation required.  You may play no matter what state you live in; Virginia residency is not a requirement.

What are “State Championships”?

The State Championships are the fourth set of Premier events in the Play! Pokémon tournament cycle for the Trading Card Game.  There is only one State Championship per state.  Each state's events will only held on March 10, 17, and 24. Players can earn Championship Points and build their Premier Rating at these events, both determine who receives invitations to the Pokémon World Championships.

What age group do I play in?
The tournament is divided into age groups, which are based on birth year, given necessary attendance.
 -Juniors: Born 2001 or later
-Seniors: Born 1997, 1998, 1999, or 2000
-Masters: Born 1996 and earlier
