Emma began her musical training as a violinist in Latvia at the age of 5 at the Emil Darzin Talent Music School in Riga, the capital of Latvia.

She later studied with and received a Master of Music degree from the Latvian State Music Conservatoire in Riga both in performance and in teaching. Emma studied piano as a second instrument.

As an active performer Emma started with the Orchestra of Opera Theatre touring Latvia at the age of 16. Emma appeared in solo recitals and with various chamber groups and orchestras in Latvia, Russia, Germany, New Zealand.

Emma came to Wellington, New Zealand in 1992 and the same year started playing with the Wellington Regional Orchestra - now Orchestra Wellington - as a violinist. She played with the Orchestra, advancing to Leading the Second Violins, until the end of 2002 when she moved to Auckland with family. Emma also led a quartet as the First Violin.

Coming to New Zealand, Emma carried on teaching violin and chamber music privately and in music schools. Her students have won many competitions in Wellington and Auckland. Her students consistently pass Royal Schools of Music examinations, most with Distinction or High Distinction. Emma has been invited to act as a tutor at chamber music tutorials and competitions in Auckland and Wellington. Emma is registered with IRMTNZ.
