Mason Jar M&M's Chocolate Oatmeal Pies

Printed from Vintage Zest

Makes nine 4-oz. pies

  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 2/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cup flaked coconut
  • 1 cup Quaker® Oats, old fashioned
  • 1/2 cup M&M'S® Holiday Baking Minis + more for topping
  • Refrigerated pie crust

1.  Preheat oven to 350º F.

2.  Prep the pie crust by rolling out and cutting into shapes to fit inside the mason jar.

Tip #1: To avoid too much crust overlap, I made an impression with the bottom of the jar I was using and cut two wedges out of the crust, so it resembles a bow tie.

3.  Press into the Mason jar, making sure to leave no air bubbles on the bottom.  Repeat for the remaining jars.

4.  In a mixing bowl, combine eggs, maple syrup, granulated sugar, brown sugar, milk, butter, and vanilla.

5.  Stir in the coconut, Quaker Oats, and M&M'S® Holiday Baking Minis.

6.  Pour filling into the Mason jars.

7.  Top with more M&Ms and get creative!

8.  To ensure even cooking, place in a Bain-Marie.  All this means is you should place in a baking dish and fill with boiling or very hot water until about half of the jar is submerged.

9.  Bake until a knife inserted near the center of pie comes out clean.  (My batch took nearly 50 minutes, but yours may take closer to 30 minutes, depending on the shape of the jars you use.)

10.  If making ahead, cool completely and refrigerate within 2 hours.  Lasts up to two days.

Also, if you plan on putting the lid on to serve it, make sure the pie cools completely.  Happy baking!
