Administrative Assistant, Beverly Slimmer:
Mrs. Beverly Slimmer, the church's administrative assistant, began working for First Church as a part time bookkeeper in January of 1982. That August the church secretary left to take a teaching position in her field of music and Bev accepted the challenge and was hired as a full time employee performing all the office duties, along with the bookkeeping. Born in Philadelphia, Pa. she was raised in Northeast Philadelphia, attended Maternity B.V.M. Grade School and graduating in 1968 from St. Hubert's Catholic High School for Girls. She married her high school sweetheart, Mario Slimmer of Sea Isle City, whom she met while vacationing with her family in 1967, in June 1969.
They have been blessed with four children and now have eight grandchildren. After years of being involved in First Church's activities both she and Mario officially joined the church in 2009.
Choir Director / Organist, Scott Armato:
Born and raised in Buena, Scott Armato recently moved to First Church from Port Norris United Methodist Church, after having served as organist and choir director there for six years. He has been involved in all aspects of music and theatre since being bitten by the bug at age seven as an NYC Paperboy in Buena Regional High School's production of Annie. Since then, his life has been filled with artistic
Scott is currently enrolled online in Drexel University's prestigious Master's of Science in Arts Administration program, with an intended graduation date of March, 2015. In 2011, he completed his undergraduate studies at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey with a cum laude Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration, Marketing and a cum laude Bachelor's of Arts in Theatre Management with Program Distinction.
Scott is in near-constant demand as a musical director, having worked on several dozen full-length musicals, children's shows, and cabarets, including Spring Awakening, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, and [title of show]. Onstage, Scott is known for his comic timing and strong dramatic instinct. Favorite roles include "Max Bialystock" in The Producers, "J. Bruce Ismay" in Titanic -- both at the Landis Theatre -- and "Juror #8" in Twelve Angry Men. Scott is noted for his Improv workshops, which are both fun and a learning experience for young and old alike.
