Welcome!

I have been teaching for fourteen years, and this will be my 9th year at Union. In the past, I have taught in Milpitas, San Jose, and Austin where I taught grades 4-6 and bilingual education. This year I will be teaching 6th grade Science and 8th grade Science.

I grew up in San Jose where I graduated from Willow Glen High. I received my bachelors degree in Physical Anthropology from UC Santa Cruz in 2001 and later received my CA Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from CSU Monterey Bay in 2003. I currently live in San Jose with my husband and three kids who keep me very busy. I love teaching and I can’t wait to get this year started.

The best way to contact me is through email. I try to respond to messages within 24 hours unless it is a weekend or holiday break. I am only on campus to speak on the phone from 8:05-3:05, but I will check my e-mail throughout the school day.

Tips for Success in 6th Grade

  • Check your planner nightly.
  • Come to class prepared.
  • Complete all assignments and turn them in on time.
  • Review your notes from class each day BEFORE you start your homework.
  • Study for assessments for at least three days, not just the night before.
  •  Keep up! Make up missed work from an absence as soon as possible.
  • Check grades on PowerSchool WEEKLY.
  • Self-Advocate! Ask for help as needed and talk to your teachers whenever you need clarification.
  • Utilize online resources.
  • Get Organized!
  • Learn to manage your time both in class and at home.
  •  Try your best and NEVER give up!
