DEC Encourages Homeowners to Practice Sustainable Lawn Care to Protect State Waterbodies

Lawn fertilizer is commonly valued with three numbers. The first is nitrogen percent, typically the larger number,
second is the phosphorus and most NYS suppliers are cooperating by offering zero, third is the value for potassium.
To protect our streams and lakes "look for the zero" in the middle, e.g., 24-0-8.
