Jacob L. Vigdor, Ph.D.

President & Chief Analyst

Jacob Vigdor holds a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University, as well as a B.S. in Policy Analysis from Cornell University.  From 1999-2014, he served on the faculty of the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University, where he held the title of Professor of Public Policy and Economics.  In 2014 he left Duke, acquiring the position of Daniel J. Evans Professor of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Washington.  He has published dozens of scholarly articles in the areas of housing policy, education policy, and immigration policy, with a specific focus on disparities and inequality by race and ethnicity.  Dr. Vigdor has taught basic courses in microeconomics and statistical analysis at the undegraduate and graduate levels.  He is experienced in conveying the insights of data analysis and research to a lay audience, and has done so in interactions with the media, in depositions, and at trial.

Dr. Vigdor has prepared consultant briefs and reports for a variety of government agencies, non-profit organizations, and for profit firms.  He is experienced in litigation consulting, statistical consulting, and economic consulting.
