Period : From 27 June untill 19 July 2008. Two weeks in Vietnam and 5 days in Angkor Temples (Cambodia) Costs per person : We spent aproximately a total of 600€ including food, stay, internal transport and tours. Food from 0.50€ till 20€, Stay from 8€ till 20€, Internal Transport (bus, airplane, motodirver, night bus, train, motobike, tuk tuk) from 1€ till 80€ Small diary: Hanoi : the most stunning was the old quarter, the smells, the food was very goood, the noisy and motobike streets and rubbish everywhere. Ha Long Bay : cant be missed as it is one of the most wonderful and spectacular natural places. Cat Ba : you could skip Cat Ba downtown as it is sooo ugly for sure althought the island has a lot to offer. Sapa : Precious rice landscapes and bambu country side with the tribes. Bac Ha : the most colorfully market. Ninh Binh : had nothing nice despite the fact it was a good spot to eat snake, goat and to rent a motorbike to explore the amazing and beautiful surroudnings, Hoa Lu, Tamc Coc and Trang An caves. Hue : the imperial citty wich is worth a day at least. Hoi An : could be told the lovers spot ;) full of charme and a very good tipical dish Cao Lao. From there we went one day to snorkle in lonely Cham Island. Another day we rent a motorbike and went to Monkey Mountain in Danang, a lonely jungle mountain full of lush invading the tiny road. We got lost there and almost run out of gas, we reach the military base and the way was cut by nature so we had to come back. A great expierence. Cambodia : Our way to Cambodia was from Danang where we took an airplane flying untill HCMC and from there a bus. Lot of poverty in Cambodia and children asking all over the places ... altought they looked like more smily than Vietnamese they didnt stop to ask for money and prices were quiet higher than in Vietnam. The coconut + peanut dishes were delightfull. We settled in Siem Reap to spend 4 days visiting the Angkor Temples ... and actually i dont have words to describe how amazing, beautiful, stunning, great, wonderful, adventurous, frightening, nostalgic, humid, green, misterious, peacfull ... they are. NO ONE SHOULD MISS IT !!
Our way back was from Siem Reap till Poipet the border in Thailand and one of the great tortures in our life !! and from there back home.
Please, feel free to check other trips : Thailand : Bangkok & Ko Chang and From Island to Island : Ocean Pacific
