The Video-Telling Workshop (VTW) is an intense video production course offered to graduates of the Odyssey Project, a free yearlong college-credited course in the humanities available to adult learners with economic hardship in the Chicago area. This video course aims at progressive social change through collective and creative action by providing its participants with an opportunity for personal empowerment and growth.  Anyone who graduated from the Odyssey Project is eligible to apply for this course.  The course is offered each summer for approximately five weeks in the office of the Illinois Humanities Council, downtown in Chicago.  Each year, a specific topic is announced when participation is called for in June.  Participants are encouraged to carry out participatory research on the given topic based on their life experiences while learning documentary video production skills.  This course is offered free of charge and the video production equipment and materials are provided and shared by all the participants.
