Counselling & how I work

Talking to a trained professional who is not part of your everyday life provides you with a neutral and confidential place where you can talk about whatever is troubling you.  Having someone listen to you without judgement allows for self awareness, understanding and acceptance to develop.  Making sense of your past, acknowledging your feelings and understanding the reasons behind unhelpful beliefs and behaviours opens up the opportunity for choice and change and to find more helpful and fulfilling ways to live.

I am an integrative counsellor which means I am able to draw on different approaches.  Everyone is different and experiences life in their own unique ways so my intention is to work in the best possible way to suit your individual needs.  My training and philosophy are based on the belief that all humans have an innate drive to grow in a positive direction and are the best experts on themselves.  Therefore, I will work alongside you to help you explore and discover your own answers and reach your own conclusions.

I also work creatively with clients when this might be helpful and if this is something you want to engage with.  This includes using objects, sand tray, playdough, drawing and painting.

Children express and explore their thoughts and feelings through play and creative activities, which include using a sand tray, miniature animals and figures, dolls house, cars, puppets, soft toys, playdough, painting, drawing, collage and playing games.  Counselling provides children with a safe, empathic and non-judgemental space where they can develop emotional resilience to help them manage the difficulties in their lives, and to grow and thrive in the world.

I am experienced in helping clients of all ages with a range of difficulties including: bereavement, loss, relationship issues, family breakup, self-esteem, depression, anxiety, disability, self-harm, suicidal thoughts and abuse.

I offer long and short term counselling depending on what you need and which we can discuss during our first meeting.

Fee - £45 per 50 minute session.  Concessions are available for clients on benefits or low income and for students.
