This MARVEL school will cover the use of variationally enhanced sampling (VES) for obtaining free energies and kinetic rates both from classical and ab initio molecular dynamics. Other methods like metadynamics will also be covered. We will focus on the use of these methods for applications related to materials science. Please see the preliminary program for further information.

The school will include hands-on tutorials using PLUMED 2 with various molecular dynamics codes. Therefore we require participants to bring their own laptops. We will provide all material and software on USB sticks. Participants will receive further instructions related to this later on.

The school will be organized within the MARVEL project and will be open to all MARVEL personnel. Also external participants are welcome.

In order to foster collaborative efforts within MARVEL the school will include a session where participants will be able to discuss MARVEL related projects where they are interested in applying enhanced sampling methods.
