I am a visiting Assistant Professor at the Division of Social Science, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
My research interests lies in the political institution and political economy of single-Party state. My current research focuses on the personnel management system in China. I received my Ph.D. in political science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

My dissertation,
Welfare Distribution without Voters: The Local Political Economy of Welfare Reform in China, investigates how different policy and institutional mechanisms have impacted welfare provision in contemporary China, using a multiple-method strategy that combines statistical analysis of existing and originally compiled datasets, content analysis of local policies and regulations, and case studies that draw on in-depth interviews with political elites.

Originally from China, I received my LL.B. in political science and public administration, B.A. in economics, and LL.M. in political science at Peking University. During my graduate studies in China, I worked at the Research Center for Contemporary China at Peking University.
