A Brief Introduction
Dr. V. Vembarasan is currently serving as an Associate Professor of Mathematics in the School of Science and Humanities at Shiv Nadar University Chennai, Kalavakkam, Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu, India, since 2025. He has established himself as an emerging researcher at the intersection of nonlinear mathematics, dynamical systems, control theory, computational intelligence, and artificial intelligence-driven applications through sustained contributions in both theoretical and interdisciplinary research.
He completed his academic education at The Gandhigram Rural Institute, where he earned his B.Sc. in Mathematics (2006), M.Sc.Tech. in Industrial Mathematics with Computer Applications (2009), M.Phil. in Mathematics (2010), and Ph.D. in Mathematics (2013). He was awarded a Gold Medal for securing first rank in his M.Sc.Tech. program. During his doctoral studies, he received the prestigious DST INSPIRE Fellowship (JRF & SRF) funded by the Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi. His doctoral thesis titled “Studies on State Estimation and Synchronization for Continuous-Time Dynamical Systems” was recognized with the distinction of “Highly Commended.”
His research interests include stability analysis of time-delay systems, nonlinear dynamical systems, neural networks, chaos synchronization, fuzzy control systems, fractional-order systems, stochastic differential equations, optimization techniques, and intelligent control frameworks. Over the years, his research has expanded into interdisciplinary areas such as machine learning, pattern recognition, image processing, multimedia security, cybersecurity, and computational intelligence, demonstrating his ability to bridge rigorous mathematical theory with practical technological applications.
To broaden his interdisciplinary expertise, Dr. Vembarasan worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Malaya from 2014 to 2016, where he gained valuable experience in machine learning and pattern recognition.
Prior to joining Shiv Nadar University Chennai, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at SSN College of Engineering from 2016 to 2021. He joined Shiv Nadar University, Chennai, as an Assistant Professor in 2021 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2025.
Dr. Vembarasan is a recognized Ph.D. supervisor at Shiv Nadar University, Chennai, and has also served as a recognized supervisor for Ph.D./M.S. scholars under Anna University. He has published extensively in reputed SCI/SCIE-indexed journals and international conferences, and his scholarly work has earned an h-index of 15, reflecting consistent academic impact.
He has successfully secured two internally funded research projects. He served as the Principal Investigator for the project titled “Mathematical Aspects of Deep Complex-Valued Neural Networks” funded by SSN Trust, which was successfully completed. He is also serving as a Co-Principal Investigator for the ongoing project titled “Enhanced Multimedia Security: Concealing Data within Video Files using Fuzzy Cellular Neural Networks” funded by UCSI University, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In addition to his research contributions, he actively serves the academic publishing community through editorial leadership roles. He currently serves as an Academic Editor for the International Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences (Dynamical Systems and Mathematical Biology Section), published by Wiley, and as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Nonlinear Dynamics and Applications. He is also an active reviewer for several leading SCI/SCIE journals.
Beyond research and editorial service, he contributes to professional academic leadership as an Executive Committee Member of the IEEE Control Systems Society - Madras Section. He is also a professional member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the International Association of Engineers (IAENG).
