You'll find these "interesting files" for your notebook every now and again, usually in the most secure nodes on the high end computer systems. So basically Lone Star, Hollywood Correctional, Aztechnology, Ares, Mitsuhama, Fuchi, Renraku, et al. Usually these are in red colored datastores behind the CPU and black ice and tar pits.
So be sure to bring a high level deck at the top of its game, and some sacrificial programs.
WILMA!!!
Errascoe, eh? Yeah, I always figured that two timing weasel was holding something back. I'd like to stick my boot up his purple suited ass, but we'll get around to that later... Sounds like we've got some more Mr. Johnson folks to keep tabs on at the moment.
Nice. Racist against elves; always a nice touch... Sad to see humanity doesn't evolve in the cyberpunk future, either. *sigh*
And yeah, next stop needs to be Boris again. Though if Wilma tells us much more, I feel like she'll have revealed the whole freaking plot of the game in just one sitting!
...Whelp, didn't see that one coming.
Figures in red and black, eh? Sounds like Renraku folks. A strike team, no doubt.
Looks like we've got a trip to the Salish-Shidhe in our future to find this Mr. Owlfeather chap.
Free cab ride to the Remond Barrens; and make it snappy!
I swear, all this jackass ever wants is money, and I'm about to shove my boot up his ass and flog him with that stupid pimp hat he's wearing.
Thanks for the information, chump. On the plus side, maybe the lovely Renraku folks will pay this lovely guy a visit later...Again!? Man, it's like these accursed Renraku guys are stalking me!
Aragorn? You mean that ranger guy who helped Frodo destroy the ring?
You know who else is a real Drek-head? I'll give you three guesses, and the first two don't count.
The high class Mr. Johnson will always seem to pack his own bodyguards. Gentlemen, I think we're moving up in the world...
However, that being said, there are two constants in Shadowrun. Never deal with a dragon, and never trust an elf.
Though the mention of "death by superior firepower" brings to mind that one scene from the jungle in the first Predator movie where they basically clear the forest by means of wasting lead.
Mr. Caleb Brightmore rocks because he hands down red-flagged matrix missions on high end systems for around 6000 nuyen a pop with 5-7 karma.
I may not trust an elf... But I will gladly take his money!
And to think, I usually pay out the ass for this information -- and this guy just hands it over freely!
Ah yes, Lone Star... The private security force of the future.
Do yourself a favor, and do not cross their path, nor cross them. If you have to run against them, I suggest you get in and get out, and don't get into any tussles with them in the streets. Because they don't mess around in the body armor nor the weaponry department.
There's a lot of viable cyberdeck upgrades. I always upgrade masking first, but you'll want to get Bod and Evasion at some point. It'll help you avoid getting screwed over by trace IC and dumps/burns, and allow you to hit those enemy IC easier. Also, it helps a load on black ice. Just make sure to karma up your computer and cybercombat related stats in tandem with this.
You'll find yourself collecting a lot more data early on about things you shouldn't really know yet if you go hitting up mass quantities of matrix runs early on. But they net you assloads of nuyen, and the larger plot points will begin to be revealed to you... In time.
Fear the all knowing datastore. Hail it, and companies dumb enough to leave important information loose on their networks.
Also, bask in the glory of the personal assistant in this game. Never forget anything important with this piece of handy hardware!
All should fear Mr. Brightmore's Matrix Runs. They are high level and it will permanently give you several passcodes to important networks that you can log into anytime you want from a public access terminal.
Though I must admit, haggling over the extra 20 nuyen on a 6100 nuyen run is quite a nice touch...
