The First Steps

Hello! We are the Canals and Hydrodynamics Team, in coming blog entries we will be documenting our Interdisciplinary Qualifying Project in Venice, Italy. As we develop interesting material we will put it on this web page to make it available.

The first part of this week was largely spent learning what our group was going to look like. We met several times and exchanged contact information in between discussing the significance of the opportunity we’ve been given. It was clear right away that the whole group was committed to leaving behind meaningful work Venice, the problem of course was finding work that would fit our budget. Our meeting with our advisors provided us a ton of ideas, which was excellent for inspiration but didn’t help us narrow down our project. Finally after sitting down for several hours over the weekend we identified a gap in information that we all felt was both significant and achievable during our time in venice. We have finally decided we want to focus on suggesting improvement to the cities sewage network. The following week will be spent doing research and deciding how we specifically want to carry out this goal. Wish us luck.
