A Night to Remember

It seems amazing that with all the talent and accomplishments that Vietnamese-Canadians possess – the 2011 Vietnamese Visionaries and Innovators Awards (VIVA) was the first time that we celebrated our brightest stars with a large scale gala.

The VIVA event was the first of its kind for our community as guests arrived at the glamorous Le Jardin and were greeted like stars on the red carpet while paparazzi snapped photos of their entrance.
Inside, guests were treated to dinner and delicious pastries by award-winning chef Donald Duong, owner of the popular Dessert Trends restaurant. Duong was glad to donate his time and resources to the special evening.

“I’m very honoured to have enjoyed the evening among some of our most influential, creative, and generous people in Canada at the VIVA gala. I’m proud to offer my services and be a part of this special event.”

Award winners from the 2011 VIVAs were: Dr. Le Duy Can, Dr. Nguyen Duy San, Max Vo, Donald Duong, and Thien Le.

After dinner, Nguyen Hong Nhung and Tuan Ngoc put on show-stopping performances that got many guests out of their seats for dancing.

At the end of the evening, MCs Bao Vu and Lucy Nguyen announced that over $5000 had been raised for The Japanese Earthquake/Tsunami Victims Relief Fund.

2012 VIVA Gala: Coming in June
The upcoming VIVA Gala is set to be bigger and better than ever. In one special night, the event will be celebrating four decades of Vietnamese Canadian achievements – in honour of the monumental 40 Year Anniversary of the Vietnamese Association, Toronto.

In addition to honouring four Vietnamese pioneers from four different decades, the VIVAs will also recognize four of our community’s brightest stars under 40.

Special musical performers, surprise guests and entertainers will be flown in from all over the world for this historic event.
