PVCC director named president of the Virginia Association for Management Analysis and Planning Executive Board
![]() Jolene Hamm Piedmont Virginia Community College’s Director of Institutional Research, Planning, and Institutional Effectiveness (IRPIE), Jolene Hamm was recently elected as executive board president of the Virginia Association for Management Analysis and Planning (VAMAP). VAMAP is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that seeks to advance research and knowledge leading to greater understanding, planning and operation of post-secondary education institutions throughout the state of Virginia. This voluntary board is comprised of representatives from public, private, two-year, and four-year colleges and universities and is the Virginia state affiliate of the Association of Institutional Research. In her new role, Hamm plans to foster and continue communications with major constituent groups while acting as the spokeswoman for VAMAP. “My goal is to continue to bring higher education issues to my peers,” said Hamm. “Through this association, I also intend to bring educational support to those who are new to institutional research.” Hamm has a Ph.D. in agriculture and extension education, an M.S. degree in career and technical education, and a B.S. in animal and poultry science, all from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). She has worked at PVCC as the IRPIE director since 2013 and has over 10 years of experience in institutional research and effectiveness at both the two- and four-year, public and private, institutional levels. In her role as IRPIE director, Hamm facilitates strategic and annual planning processes for the college; serves PVCC is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education
that serves Central Virginia—principally residents of the City of
Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna,
Greene, Louisa and Nelson. The main campus is located in Albemarle
County. The PVCC Eugene Giuseppe Center is located in Greene County, and
the PVCC Jefferson School Center is located in downtown
Charlottesville. PVCC is one of 23 community colleges in Virginia that
