My First Half Marathon

On January 16th, 2011 I will be running the P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon in Phoenix, AZ!  I have decided that I would like to make my first big run extra special by dedicating it to an important cause.
I will be dedicating my FIRST Half Marathon to HUNTER HALVORSON and the PHOENIX CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL!!!
The Halvorsons are an amazing family I met in 2005 at the Health Club where I worked in Arizona, and I spent many days babysitting Hunter’s older brothers, Wyatt and Parker.  On October 1, 2010, a biopsy from Hunter’s forearm found that he has a rare disorder called Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH).  For the past couple months, this precious little 2 ½ year old has been through a lot, including MRIs, surgeries, CT scans, full body X-Rays, and a strict chemo and meds regime.
You can read more about Hunter’s story at:

(You will need to join or sign in.)

As someone who works with and loves children, this definitely hits close to my heart.  In honor of Hunter Halvorson and his family, I am asking for donations to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation.

In both training for and running my first half marathon, whenever I feel like giving up, I hope to find the strength to keep going by remembering the Halvorson Family in their fight for Hunter’s life.  Their courage and strength will serve as an inspiration to me throughout this whole journey, and I cannot wait to cross the finish line for them!!!
