History of the Guild

The Valley Stitchers Guild was formed in October1967, an outgrowth of a stitchery class held at the Walnut Creek Art Center. Throughout the years, membership has grown from a small handful of persons to over 100 active members. The Guild grew to include many different fiber arts and later changed the name to Valley Stitchers And Fiber Artists Guild. The Guild’s purpose, then as now, is to promote the growth of creativity and originality in the field of textile arts, and to maintain high standards of accomplishment in this area.
