Bats hibernate in the winter months, so you are most likely to see them in the spring, summer or autumn, flying over their favourite habitats whilst they search for insects to feed on. You can find bats in a variety of different habitats, including towns, grasslands, areas close to water, areas close to trees and hedges and some even fly high in the sky. Bats are nocturnal, so the best time to see them is at sunset or sunrise during warm and dry weather.
