About Vall de Laguar - with Sandra Taylor.
The Vall de Laguar area of Spain is a designated National Park, and is set in the mountains, 500 metres above sea level, consisting of several towns and villages, including  Campell, Benimaurell, and Fleix. On a clear day, the island of Ibiza can be seen from the mountains.

Vall de Laguar hosts some of the best views in Spain.

The stunning mountain scenery, combined with centuries of history, make the area an ideal place for tourists to visit, especially those that want to enjoy more of the numerous and unique delights that Spain has to offer. It attracts many different types of visitors, including hikers, cyclists, bird watchers, naturalists, and mountain climbers.

A particular challenge to the many walkers visiting the area is the "5,000 steps", a seven hour, 15 km trek over the mountains, passing through almond and cherry trees, and following  the Mozarabic trail,
using stone steps built into the mountains, (originally by the Mozárabes), to create a safe route for traders and travelers.

La Vall de Laguar is in the Costa Blanca area of Spain, in the province of Alicante . It is situated approximately 20 kilometres west of Denia, which is on the Balearic coast of the Mediterranean. The area is said to have about 320 days of sunshine each year, so it is a great place for sun seekers. The Spanish Balearic islands of Ibiza, and Majorca, are situated to the east of Denia, and can be reached by ferry from Denia harbour.

Many different animals share this rugged land, including wild boar, mountain cats, foxes, weasels, and rabbits, whilst from the sky, and the trees, birds of prey, like tawny owls, and goshawks, keep their sharp eyes open for that next meal appearing from the undergrowth.
