Welcome to my personal page

Absque sudore et labore nullum opus perfectum est."

About me. My name is Vadim Nelidov. I am a young and enthusiastic PhD student at CREED (University of Amsterdam) since September 2016 under the supervision of Uri Gneezy, Theo Offerman and Jeroen van de Ven. I currently reside in Amsterdam, but can be  found at different places around the world throughout the year.

Research interests. The focus of my research interests is primarily in Behavioral, Experimental and Labor economics as well as Data & Information Science and Artificial Intelligence, which includes such topics as Individual decision making, behavioral biases related to it; Job performance, ability and their predictability; Interactions of human decision-makers with Artificial intelligence; Predictability of individual behavior, traits and preferences using machine algorithms; Usage and provision of feedback and ratings; Deception in economic environments and many more.

Qualifications. My qualifications and skills are versatile and include advanced data analysis and work with machine algorithms; design and management of (large scale) controlled experiments and data collection; programing in Python & its many frameworks as well as PHP, Java Script and html/css; scientific presenting and discussion group / conference management as well as many other research and data-related skills. The above combine with proficiency in English, Russian and Dutch languages and fundamentals of German.

Background. I was born in Moscow (Russia) and spent the first 22 years of my life there. In 2010 I graduated from a prominent high school with advanced Mathematics and Geometry focus. In 2010-2014 I acquired a Bachelor (with cum laude) in Economics at the Higher School of Economics - one of the top Russian universities - with an in-depth research oriented training provided for a selected cohort of enthusiastic and well-performing students. In 2014 I moved to Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and acquired a Master degree in Economics with cum laude in 2016.

Other interests. My non-research interests are versatile. In my free time I play various instruments including piano, classic and electronic guitar, flute and programmable electronic instruments. I compose my own music and already have a small collection of my own recorded pieces. I do it more so for myself and for the reflection of my current well-being and feelings rather than for some general audience. I am very passionate about 20 century literature (most notably E.M. Remarque and Jean-Paul Sartre) as well as Russian 19 century poetry. I try to spend most of my free time traveling around Europe and seeing beautiful natural sights. And the remaining of my time is dedicated to mastering languages: I speak Russian, English and German and Dutch. Below is one of my favorite landscapes from the Swiss city of Lucerne:
