Valve is very adamant about talking to anyone caught by VAC as little as possible. They will not look into the incident at all and will always claim a perfect system. Even after having brought the Better Business Bureau in on the matter, they seem to find that repeating the same thing and ignoring the question will work best.

So after I sent my original complaint through the BBB Valve replied with:

  • We do not respond to complaints regarding accounts that have been banned for using cheats. The ban does not affect single player games and you can use any of the multiplayer games on non-VAC protected servers.

So I replied and let them know that I was not satisfied with their "simple refusal to deal with any problems."

They did respond to it, but they just pulled the old ctrl+c, ctrl+v trick on me. They just pasted their old reply in and responded.

  • We do not respond to complaints regarding accounts that have been banned for using cheats. The ban does not affect single player games and you can use any of the multiplayer games on non-VAC protected servers.

This wouldn't be nearly as annoying is it didn't take me four days to get the response (This is partially due to the fact that the BBB must check each response first).

Valve was also kind enough to have closed the trouble ticket that I opened with them oh so long ago. It's been closed for a while now since apparently when I wasn't paying attention the matter was "resolved" by them ignoring it.

At this point I would like to encourage everyone that has been wrongly banned by Valve/Steam to submit a complaint through the Better Business Bureau. Do not do it if you actually cheated and were caught, that only hurts the rest of us. If it was a mistake, then please submit a complaint to the BBB againts Valve. It is very easy to do, and it will show up on record if they have ignored or not resolved a lot of complaints.

When asked what company the complaint is against, either search for Steam or enter in their number "425 889-9642" and they will show up. They are listed under the name steam instead of valve for some strange reason.
