Information about the Break-Ins to the Fields of Uxbridge Facilities; a message from our President
The outpouring of support that the Uxbridge Soccer Club has received over the last week from our Members and the Community has been humbling. The response and the generosity of individuals and businesses have been overwhelming and we are extremely grateful.
When news broke of the latest break-in at the Fields of Uxbridge on social media, the Club received many offers of help, including a willingness to donate food, beverages, and money to replenish lost product. The offers have come from existing soccer club members, our team sponsors, and amazingly from past soccer players who no longer live in Uxbridge but who chose to support the Club in a time of need.
As an organization comprised of local residents, our Board felt that our community needed to hear about what was happening.
The 2017 outdoor season has been a challenging one for the Uxbridge Soccer Club which is operated by community volunteers. Three break-ins at the Fields of Uxbridge soccer building have resulted in needless losses of concession stand food & beverage and expensive soccer equipment. Losses are estimated at $1,000.00 and when the costs of repairs to the soccer field house are added in, the recovery costs for the Soccer Club are even higher.
Until now, we have dealt with these break-ins on our own, essentially absorbing the losses and the repair costs. This is not the first year that this has happened, unfortunately. A different entry point was used in each of the recent break-ins, resulting in multiple building repairs. All three break-ins and thefts have been reported to the police. Evidence, including a sledge hammer, has been taken by the police. Hopefully, through the work of the community and the police, these crimes can be dealt with in time. If you see any unusual activity at and around the Fields of Uxbridge, please contact the police on the non-emergency number.
The latest break-in on Aug 9-10 was disheartening to say the least. The concession stand had just been restocked for our Closing Day Festival, to be held on Aug 19. Sometime during the night, thieves stole much of that inventory. The Club cannot afford further losses, so the inventory has been removed from the field house. While this complicates things and makes for unnecessary work, we have few options left.
On behalf of the Uxbridge Soccer Club administrators, volunteer Board, and the Members, I would like to thank everyone in the community for the offers of assistance, your swift action, and the kind words offering support to youth soccer and the Club. A special thank you goes out to Magnum Food Brokers, Williamson Chrysler, and Zehrs Markets for their generous donations, and to the Township of Uxbridge and the Durham Regional Police Services for their ongoing assistance.
We are looking forward to a fun and exciting Closing Festival thanks to the community of Uxbridge!
Yours in soccer,
Grant Oliver
President, Uxbridge Soccer Club

Severe weather warnings
When there is severe weather, the Club is watching reports and the skies. The Club will post a notice on  Twitter @uxsoccer  in the event that soccer is cancelled due to  severe weather at the fields. We'll also do our best to post on this page and email our parents if we can.

Please remember that we play in the rain, but not in lightning and because storms can pass quickly, we are rarely able to make a cancellation call more than 30 minutes prior to start time.
