Welcome to the Directed Reading Program (DRP) of the Department of Mathematics, at the University of Wisconsin - Madison!

The DRP is a math mentoring program that pairs undergraduate students with graduate student mentors, for a semester-long independent study project. The goal of this program is to get students excited about mathematics by giving them an out-of-the-classroom experience, usually in topics that are outside of their coursework. The DRP also aims to expose students to the techniques and the discipline involved in research, and can be helpful in future reading and research projects, including REUs. For graduate students, the program provides an opportunity to mentor students in topics outside of the usual courses taught in the department, in addition to enhancing their advisory skills.
