Roosevelt Rumble Myton Utah 2015

ROOSEVELT RUMBLE MARCH 21-22 MYTON, UTAH

As we turned on to the dirt road at Pheasant Valley Hunting preserve we saw three or four black pheasants cross the road in the early light of the sun that had yet to clear the skyline. What a welcoming sight to see as the trucks and trailers from the gallery came in to view at the same time. The annual Roosevelt Rumble was just about to heat up on grounds that are very different from our usual trial grounds. The Basin boys had really outdone themselves in selecting such wonderful fields. Rhet Collins gave the club the wonderful gift of podium blocks for placement photos. Thank you Rhet for the hard work and thoughtfulness to make this for us. This is just one example of the work that is done by many men and women that makes our little trial club so special.

Saturdays braces were as competitive as usual and many dogs ran well in the tough dry conditions.

A field was huge and finding birds in it was tough for everyone. Everyone except Shane Neilsons dog Ben, who managed to put five birds on the card. Ben is dog that has really been coming on strong lately, and gives me pointer envy. Angie Wonnacott's leggy young setter Sunnie found her way to the second place block. In third place Josh Morris and Adolph made made the grade. Adolph is a fine dog that has given many of his brace mates head aches over the years. Look for him to make a showing at The Regional.

It was no surprise to see Tracy Neilson and CH Cheeto holding the top spot after the last brace in B field. Cheeto and Tracy seem to always be in the conversation at the end of every trial weekend. She is a wonderful dog that somehow seems to come up with birds even when others are struggling. Maureen and old hand 2XCh Mini found a long overdue return to the podium with a second place finish. Mini has been a great dog in of our club for many years. It is good to see her back in action. To contrast the old hands, Brad Jenkins finished third with his young and talented Brittany, Duece. Its good to see Brad out. Now if we could just get him to stick around for Pictures.

After the last braces were ran and the awards were handed out Saturday we were reminded of what is really important in our lives. We were sad beyond words to hear of the passing Darwin Neilson, Lance Tracy and Shane Neilson's Father. Gentlemen, we want to express our deepest, and most heart felt condolences.

There was a somber mood in the gallery Sunday morning as the first braces were sent to the blind, but once those early braces were underway things just seemed to fall together and the trial somehow continued as planned.

After all braces were ran Sunday, Billy was the cream that rose to the top in A field. Dan Felter handled her to another victory. She is another dog that has come on strong this season. In second place was another of Dan's dogs, Lace. Nice work Dan you owned A field. In third place was Rich Lowe, who apparently suffers from scopophobia had disappeared, and had to be replaced by a beautiful water bottle for pictures. Sadly the beautiful Chip was gone as well. As always we do the best we can with what we have. Lol

It was in B field that the real magic of the trial took place. In 3rd place Dan Felter and Billi found themselves back on the podium.

While Shane Neilson and Ben were back as well with a strong Second place finish. In first Mat Bockavich and Boomer took the 3 points. This is a very special placement for Boomer in that he has earned enough points to champion. To champion a dog takes a lot of work and a really nice dog so it is something worth celebrating anytime a dog achieves this level of success. What makes Boomers CH so special is his breed. Westend's Boomerang Fury (Boomer) is Weimaraner, and when all is made official will become the first of his breed to CH in NSTRA. Think about that for a minute. With all the dogs that have entered all the weekend trials all over the country for as long as The National Shoot To Retrieve Association has existed not one other Weimaraner has earned that CH. No other but our very own Boomer at the Roosevelt Rumble on March 22, 2015. That is quite a feet, and we want to congratulate Mat, and Boomer for sticking with it and believing even when times were tough. YOU DID IT BOYS!

The best of the west is our next trial. It will be at Wasatch Wing and Clay. Gather a few items for the raffle if you can. Check back for more news on the biggest trial of the year
