It was a breezy morning in Roosevelt as the first brace of dogs stepped to the line. One of the judges said turn 'em loose and just like that the first brace of dogs were kicking up dust. Though we see it over and over again there is nothing quite like watching two competitive dogs leave the line. Each of them trying to edge ahead of the other to find and stand that first bird. There might be something on this earth that is more beautiful than a well put together pointing dog in full stride, but I cant think of anything. It is one of the many moments that make this sort of trialing fun and exciting.

As the day went on dogs started setting themselves apart. In “A” field the always competitive Lance Neilson with R2 and Tracy Neilson with Cheeto both had nice runs only to be outdone by Rhett Collins and his wirehair Maggie. Maggie's run scored 776.33 and gave her and her persistent owner Rhett not only their first placement but their first win. Congratulations to Rhett and Maggie on a great win!

In “B” Field, Bret Wonnacott and Tic edged out Art Trujillo's dog Asia to stay hot and get another win. Asia is moving ever so close to that 2X Champion mark. Its only a matter of time.

Dan Felter's dog Rev came in third.

On Sunday Field Marshal Angie had to chase the score sheets down when a big gust of wind blew them off the board and threatened to carry us all to Oz. In spite of it all 18 year old Kaycee Goodrich and seven were on fire. They had two really nice runs that gave them a 2nd place in “A” field and a 3rd in “B”. These were Kaycee's first and second placements as a handler, and she really prettys up the glory pictures at the end of the day. Great Job Kaycee!

For years now Troy Anderson could be seen at nearly every trial giving up his time judging, though he runs a fair amount that first top three placement has eluded him. At the last trial he and his dog Ditch flirted with it, but ended up being knocked down to fourth only adding to the weight of that monkey on his back. On this day in Roosevelt he brought the old veteran dog Gus out, and they were not to be denied. They had a run in “A” field that put six birds on the card and finished the field with a score of 927.33 to smash the competition. Congratulations on a well deserved win Troy!

In the other field Jason Wilde had a great run with Gabby in the 11 brace to knock R2 out of first place and earn a win. It is good to have Jason out with us again these days. Nice job on the win.

Lance and R2 only need a few 1st place points for the big CH , and it has eluded them for a while. It will happen though. R2 may be the most consistent dog in the region, and those magic runs will happen and they will achieve their goal.

Thanks to everyone that helped with this trial especially Lance. I know you had some challenges, but it was a very nice trial in the end.
