Last Chance Trial Newton Utah May 16-17, 2015

This trial season has been the most pleasant weather wise in quite some time. Every trial weekend has been sunny and for the most part beautiful until now. As we pulled in to the usually beautiful Newton trial grounds a steady drizzle was falling, but it wouldn't last long. That drizzle quickly turned to heavy rain and was relentless all day Saturday. We did what we do and went forward with the trial. In the first brace of the day Angie Wonnacott's Sunnie set the pace in A field with a opening brace run scoring 743.5 Rich Lowe's Chip would push her with a score of 611. But by the time the rain soaked through the brim of our hats and started running down our faces Troy Anderson's Ditch bettered both of them with a run scoring 832 to win the field. In B field a similar story would unfold with Angie Wonnacott's Sunnie at 771 and Rich Lowe's Sam at 746 being bested by Rhett Collins' Maggie in the last run of the day Maggie's score was 773. She has been a much improved dog and looks to be a force in the region moving forward. Dan Felter's Billi would take fourth. B field was very competitive.

On Sunday the wet weather dried up a bit and we had a pleasant day weather wise. Even the grass dried up by mid day and birds started flying better by the final braces. A field was won by Angie Wonnacott's Sunnie with a nice run of 912.5, Dan Felters Billi would take second with 730.6, and Rich Lowe's Chip would come in third with 737. Fourth place Would be Rhett Collins with Maggie.

In B field Dan Felter's Billi would continue her rule of Sunday by winning with a score of 773, 2nd place would be taken by the ever present Bret Wonnacott's Tic scoring 712 and Third would be taken by Angie Wonnacott's Sunnie with a 705 run. Fourth place would be taken by Cade Allen And his dog Bo. We want to congratulate Cade and Bo on their first placement in a NSTRA Trial. They have been working hard at it. Watch for them to be on the table soon.

This years race for High point dog was a nail biter with four dogs in the race Bret Wonnacott's Tic, Angie Wonnacott's Sunnie, and Dan Felter's Billi each had 7 points while Ben entered the weekend with 9. Sunnie and Billi each had great weekends to make up the ground and surpass Ben. After all was said and Done Sunnie with 11 in region points would win 2015 Utah Region High point dog and Dan Felters Billi will be runner up with 10 points. These dogs had a great year and we want to congratulate Angie and Sunnie along with Dan and Billi on a great trial year. Nice Job!

Thanks everyone for a great year of fun with the dogs. We now have enough dogs qualified to have a full regional Elimination Trial.
