FEBRUARY 22-23 TRIAL

WASATCH WING AND CLAY

For once we had a trial on a weekend when the weather wasn’t bitter cold or blistering hot. It was really a beautiful February weekend at Wasatch Wing and Clay. With the snow capped Wasatch mountains to the east and the hills to the west that look like chukar country to me, it is a beautiful place to hold a trial.

It has been the norm lately to have some new faces wondering among us. On this day we also had a number of familiar friends come out that we hadn’t seen in a while. It sure was fun catching up with old friends. New, or familiar, running dogs,or just hanging out watching we are always glad everyone came out.

Randall bennetts dog Ben had a triumphant run and got a 3 point win in front of some strong competition on Satuday. Tracy Neilson's dog Cheeto had another strong showing in that field and placed second.

Tic and his owner Bret Wonnacott had a nice run in B field that was enough to put him at the top of the list there. That win gave Tic enough points to earn his champion certificate.

Mat Blockovich's dog Boomer inched closer to that magical 18th point with a 2nd and 3rd place finish but fell one point short for now. Boomer had a nice showing this week end. We are confident Boomer will get it done soon enough.

On Sunday morning under sunshine and blue sky we Watched Brett Ure's dog Cash have the run of his short trial career. That score stood most of the day and held off the competition to earn not only their first placement but to get a win in B field. Congratulations To Brett and Cash they have worked hard to improve and have come a long way. It is fun to see some of the newer guys start to have some success.

Dan Felter showed us how to be consistent by finishing Rev in the top four in three out of four fields. Nice job Dan!

Matt Solt showed up just long enough to give us a hard time, and win the other field on Sunday. Matt should run more often he made it look easy.

As usual there were many other dogs that performed well too. Chad Jones and his dog Doc, Lance Neilson's dog R2, and Shaun Heaton's dogs Belle and Walt all had placements. We would also like to congratulate Troy Anderson for getting Ditch into the top 4 for the first time. Nice job Troy.

Again it is important to point out that without Judges, bird planters, trial chairs, field marshal, and others these trials don’t happen. It is a lot of work to put a trial on. Maybe remember to thank these folks when you see them it goes a long way.

Thanks everyone.

We have a trial on March 22-23 out in the basin sign up early.
