Vessel Safety Checks

To encourage safe boating, members of our flotilla perform free Vessel Safety Checks. A qualified Auxiliary volunteer will examine your boat to verify that it is being operated in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. The Vessel Safety Check is not a law enforcement action. No fines or citations are issued. Rather, it is performed only with the cooperation of the owner and designed to educate the boating public.

Many marinas and yacht clubs on the upper Potomac require their members to have an annual Vessel Safety Check provided by either the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary or the U.S. Power Squadron.  To arrange a safety check for your boat or a larger event your marina, contact our Staff Officer for Vessel Examinations through our Contact Us page.
