Answer: 1. Making a special issue each year that focuses on a special topic in civil engineering.

Answer: 1. Including topics of pure sciences like physics and chemistry in the first year to increase the student basics.

Question: What is Civil Engineering? What are the major branches in Civil Engineering?

Answer: Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including public works such as roads, bridges, canals, dams, airports, sewerage systems, pipelines, structural components of buildings, and railways. It is further divided into numerous other sub-disciplines:

Answer: Research projects funds must be organized by contracts between the field of work coporations and the scientific establishments like universities or scientific research centers. The researches are based on the field of work demand.

Question: How can universities produce revolutionary PhD and Post Doc thesis and dissertations on Civil Engineering? What are your recommendations to improve the academic standards?

Answer:  When the topics of the Ph.D. and post Doc theses are based on the demand of the field of work and aim to solve real problems, it is expected that these theses will be evolutionary.

Question: What are your views on Characteristics of Clays Stabilized with Lime- Silica Fume Mix?

Answer: Soil stabilization can make the soils becoming more stable by using an admixture to the soil. Silica fume is utilized as a pozzolanic material in the application of soil stabilization. Silica fume was once considered non-environmental friendly. Silica fume is utilized as a pozzolanic material in the application of soil stabilization. It is as an industrial waste created from the smelting process of silicon metal and ferrosilicon alloy. A reduction in plasticity occurs in the case the clayey soil is mixed with silica fume, due to converting the soil to the granular mass. In this case, the stronger bonds between the soil particles occur because of the cation exchange that takes place between negative ions on the surface of the clay particles and the calcium ions.

Question: What are your recommendations to write a world class research article in Civil Engineering? What essential components and factors must be there?

Answer: To write a class research, there must be an idea, then a plan of work and methodology. The essential components are the availabolity of instruments and testing machines or numerical analysis software and the ability to discuss the results. The analysis may be made on prepublished data, the methodology may be stastical or reliability analysis of some factors.

Question: What are your recommendations to write a world class case report in Civil Engineering? What essential components and factors must be there?

Answer: To write a class case report in Civil Engineering, you have to describe briefly the case, its components and define the essential factors. The report skeleton must be organized starting from an introduction which describes the problem statement and method of analysis. Then the theory adopted in the analysis must be included followed by the work which may be experimental or data collection or numerical analysis. After that the report must include discussion of results and submitting solutons to the problem under consideration.

Question: What are your recommendations to Construct Irrigation Channels and Drains on Soft Clays?

Answer: Soft clays are usually described by low shear strength and high compressibility, therefore there must be cautions during construction structures such as iirigation channels and drains on them. The stability of slopes of these structures must be analyzed and protection solutions have to be proposed.

Question: What are your recommendations to write a world class review in Civil Engineering? What essential components and factors must be there?

Answer: To write a class review in Civil Engineering, there must be a theoretical background and experience regarding the review subject. The writer must have the ability to analyze data and give explanations to events and provide recommendations for practical applications.

Question: What are your recommendations to improve employment and scope in Civil Engineering?

Answer: Employment in Civil Engineering must be based on the employer experience in selectiong the most suitable workers or engineers. The skills and experience of the advanced to a job must be validated by an exam.

Question: Which major challenges do you see to establish Iraq as world leader in Civil Engineering?

Answer: Iraq is a developing country. It has a huge amounts of human and natural resources. Its infrastructures were subjected to destroys due to wars. It is expected that Iraq will support a number of giant civil engineering projects including bridges, high rise buildings, tunnels, tower plants, etc. The challenges are restricted in the control of investment and making the roles and laws that govern the work of foreign companies and investors.

Question: What is Non-Linear Dynamic Behaviour of Soil?

Answer: The significance of nonlinear soil behavior in seismically induced dynamic loading has been a controversial issue among seismologists and geotechnical engineers for decades. The central question of the discussion is whether soil amplification is amplitude dependent. The dependence of soil response on strain amplitude became a standard assumption in the geotechnical field. The response of soil subjected to dynamic loading depends on many factors:

• The soil nature and properties (permeability, relative density, …etc.),

 • The environment of the soil (static stress state and water pressure),

• The nature of the dynamic loading (magnitude and rate of strain as well as the number of cycles of dynamic loading).

The soil response under dynamic loads is different from that of static loads, because it is of significant importance for the stability of structures. Many researchers stated that the stress-strain behavior of soil is usually found to be hysteretic and non- linear. I addition, the response of the soil to dynamic loading depends mainly on the level of stress that induces dynamic strains as well as the type of the soil. So the real behavior of soils in general may be elasto-plastic, it provides better estimations of displacement when subjected to its working load.

Particulate materials (i.e., rock, sandstone, sand, and sediment) exhibit strong dynamic behaviors, such as end-point memory and a closed loop (hysteresis) in the stress-strain curve, higher harmonic generation in propagating waves, a resonance frequency shift and nonlinear damping in standing waves, and slow dynamics. These macroscopic nonlinear responses of soils are the consequences of complex frictional mechanisms involving contact between the grains and grain rearrangement under loading-unloading cycles. The variation of the damping ratio is a physical indicator of energy dissipation as quantified by a hysteresis loop at one cycle of deformation.

The presence of ground water in soil leads to that vibrations are frequently transmitted undamped to considerable distances. A sand mass under vibrations tends to increase in density with a corresponding decrease in voids. In a mass of saturated sand below groundwater level, soils may be subjected to liquefaction resulting in increases in density. The movement of soil grains is associated with the decrease of effective stresses. If the soil is under a certain initial shear stress, the effect of vibrations is felt to a different degree. However, in cohesive soils such as clay and loam, considerable damping may take place, yet the soil may become plastic and this, in turn, may result in the transmission of harmful vibrations to the environment. In both cases, depending upon soil characteristics, pile foundations may be adopted.

Done post-doctoral work in Business, Humanities, Social Sciences, Design, Creative Arts and other related areas and has published 2 research papers in journals.

Post Ph.D. experience of more than 2 years in Business, Humanities, Social Sciences, Design, Creative Arts and other related areas,

 

Or

 

Ph.D. with at least three recommendations/ referrals of his research/ contribution from nationally/ internationally recognized experts of concerned field and his/her work and efforts has made distinct contributions to the society and advancement of knowledge.

Honorary Legum Doctor (Latin: "teacher of the laws") (LL.D.; Doctor of Laws in English) is highest recognition for meritorious research scholars. Honorary Legum Doctor of Science is superior in terms of honor and recognition compared to Legum Doctor earned through course work.


Eligibility for Honorary LL.D.

 

A candidate who is awarded Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in the discipline of Law and related areas by University or degree recognized equivalent thereto from any University may present his/her candidacy for the Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) provided that he/she has:
