About The Director

About Torance Douse

Torance Douse is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He recieved his Bachelors of Music Education with a concentration in Choral Music in May of 2010. While at the university he studied and performed under internationally acclaimed Tenor, Dr. Barrington Coleman and also the internationally accliamed Soprano, Dr. Ollie Watts Davis. He was a member of the University of Illinois Varsity Men's Glee Club who performed a 14-day European Tour in the summer of 2008. Performance venues included the Salzburg Dom Cathedral in Salzburg, Austria, was a Saxophone soloist in Luxembourg Gardens in Paris, France, and was a Baritone soloist on Omaha Beach also in France. He was also the Bass section leader and Baritone soloist in the University of Illinois Black Chorus.
 
Torance's passion to inspire youth has lead him to his profession as the Choral Director of Urbana High School. His mission is to teach his students the essentials of becoming life-long, independent learners and motivate them to become model citizens with an attitude of service and leadership.
