9th UP Global Health Course

The 9th UP Global Health Course (UP-GHC9) will be held on October 22-27, 2012 at the Center for Ecozoic Living and Learning (CELL) in Silang, Cavite. Students are invited to join this event - iGHC aims to broaden awareness of the many dynamic factors of politics, culture, economic and social structures that affect health locally and globally.

Please pick up a form at the CAMP administrative office.  This form will be available starting Thursday, February 23, 2012.  The students must fill out the form before going in for their medical check which starts on Monday Feb 27 up to Wednesday Feb 29.  Thank you!

MSC/SMU Student Debate part 2

Greetings!
 
The U.P. Medicine Student Council, in cooperation with the Social Medicine Unit (SMU) of the U.P. College of Medicine (UPCM), has initiated the holding of student debates, events which are considered as pioneering efforts in undergraduate medical education. The debates are expected to attain the following objectives:  to heighten awareness among medical students, faculty, and other constituents, of significant political, social, or economic issues that affect Philippine health and medicine; to provide a structured venue for the balanced articulation of facts and opinions that bear on these issues; and to familiarize medical students with the debate process.
 
Following the holding of an intra-college event last December, an interscholastic debate involving teams composed of students from various medical schools will be held on February 7, 2012. The series of debates will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 noon on the said date at the Buenafe Hall Auditorium of the College of Medicine of the University of the Philippines Manila. The actual topics for the debates will be announced later, but will be limited to issues relevant to national health policies. The debates are supported by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) and the U.P. Medical Assistance Fund (UPMAF).
 
In this regard, we are cordially extending this invitation to your office to attend and thereby also participate in what promises to be an interesting event.  Additional details regarding the upcoming debate may be inquired from Mr. Benjamin David, the administrative staff of SMU, at 5361396.
