Choosing Homes, Choosing Schools

Choosing Homes, Choosing Schools Mini Conference
February 24th and 25th, 2012

2012 Eastern Sociological Society Annual Meeting

To the degree that choices are open to them, parents' decisions about where to move and where to send their children to school are often related. The mini conference, “Choosing Homes, Choosing Schools” provides an opportunity to spark discussion between residential choice scholars and those studying school choice.  The mini conference will also highlight innovative efforts underway to integrate these two research perspectives.

We gratefully acknowledge the generous financial support of the School Attendance Boundary Information System (SABINS) at  William and Mary, The University of Minnesota Population Center, Spatial Structures in the Social Sciences, Brown University, Johns Hopkins University, and the Department of Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania for the conference.
Special thanks  to Shani Evans for her work in coordinating the conference as well as Devin Barney. We are also grateful to Emily Mahon, Sal Saporito, John Logan, Stefanie DeLuca, Amy Stuart Wells, and David Van Riper for their help.
