Welcome to the Phi Tau Chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon at the
University of North Texas!
Mu Phi Epsilon is an international, coeducational, professional music fraternity that aims to serve the community through music, advance music throughout the world, and build a life-long fraternal bond between its members. Mu Phi Epsilon upholds high standards of professionalism, scholarship, and integrity,
which prepare each brother and sister for a life of success and achievement. The Phi Tau Chapter was reinstated in 2008 and has won the International Chapter of the Year award five times consecutively since the school year of 2009-2010.
Phi Tau is proud of its history of musical achievement and wide variety of musical ensembles. Two general recitals are held every year, with other various recitals for Mu Phi Epsilon ensembles in between. The Phi Tau Chorale, Phi Tau Winds, and Secondary Band regularly perform at the UNT College of Music's "Music at Noon" recitals. Because of the wide spectrum of musical backgrounds in the chapter, new chamber ensembles are formed every semester. Throughout the years, Phi Tau has showcased a choir, various woodwind and brass ensembles, latin bands, jazz combos, a rock band, and even a full-scale symphonic wind ensemble that was made up entirely of the brothers and sisters of Mu Phi Epsilon. Phi Tau also hosts and participates in a number of service projects in the UNT College of Music throughout the year, including "Start Up the Band!" and the College of Music's "Instrument Petting-Zoo".
