Adult Swim Meet

posted Jul 5, 2016, 3:14 PM by Ken Irvine

Dear Membership, this is to remind all interested adults to sign up for the 2016 adult swim meet that will take place July 16 starting about 12:00 noon (or right after the swim team’s home meet finishes).  The adult swim meet is a fun event where adults get to compete in 25 yard races that include traditional swimming strokes and some quirky events like the doggie paddle (barking while competing is encouraged), feet first swimming, and 4x25 t-shirt relays.  Sign up information and sheets will be posted on the bulletin board at the pool.

Any adult can participate – it is not limited to adults with children on the swim team.

If there is a large demand for a longer individual events, or different events, the meet sponsors will add events (or remove any events that no one signs up for).   Please email Robert Roesener with event or race-length ideas.  He will discuss any new ideas with those who sign up on the day of the adult meet.  His email is  Finally, anyone who wants to volunteer to be a captain for the day, please let Robert know.  Everyone who signs up will be assigned to one of the two teams:  the slugs (a/k/a the sea slugs) and the snails.

There are classes for children starting at Level 1, where kids get acquainted and comfortable with the water, to level 4, where advanced strokes and techniques are taught. We also offer water aerobics and swim lessons for adults. Attached is the brochure which details the individual levels more clearly and includes all the session times and dates.

Swim Team Update

posted May 20, 2016, 2:34 PM by Ken Irvine

Dear USAI families interested in the swim team. The 2016 swim team season will be starting soon. An information packet is now available. Two key dates to note:

Sunday June 12 at 9 AM, assessment for swimmers new to the team.

Monday June 13 5:30 - 7:00 PM - first practice and assessment for all swimmers.
Monday June 13 6:30 PM Mandatory parents meeting.

This summer, as most of you know, we will be swimming in a new league, NJSDC. Participation in this league requires that we have several certified officials, so we need your help. Also, all swim team parents will be required to work at least 3 shifts at swim meets, and being an official is a great way for you to satisfy this requirement. If you are currently YMCA or USA certified and can work as an official this summer, please send a copy of your certification to our officials coordinator, Trish Sanchez ( If you are not currently a certified official, then you can become certified for NJSDC meets by attending one 2 hour clinic, and then taking (at home) an online test. There are four dates for officials clinics. If you plan to attend one of these and work as an official, please let Trish know so we can keep track of how many officials we will have. The dates for these clinics:

Wednesday, June 1st 7:00 PM. Raritan Valley Country Club 747 Rt. 28 West Bridgewater, NJ
(Men- Shirt with collars required. All NO DENIM)

Tuesday, June 7th 7:00 PM. Cedar Hill Swim Club 156 Cedar Grove Lane
Somerset, NJ

Saturday, June 11th 9:00 AM North Brunswick High School Commons 98 Raider Road
North Brunswick, NJ

Tuesday, June 14th 7:00 PM Cranford Community Center 220 Walnut Avenue
Cranford, NJ

Looking forward to seeing all of you in June.
