Red Hot Readers Build Character! The UHPTA is excited to present our 13th annual Red Hot Readers program. The theme this year is “Red Hot Readers Build Character”. This exciting program was designed to increase a student's love of reading and comprehension by exposing them to a variety of books with different genres and authors. Students who become Red Hot Readers also reap the rewards of reading by earning credits redeemable towards the purchase of books at our Scholastic BOGO Book Sale held in May. Only Red Hot Readers will have exclusive access to the Scholastic BOGO Book Sale pre-sale hours! Starting in October, the Red Hot Readers book selection sheets will be available for printing at the bottom of this page and the online backpack. If you require printed copies, please indicate on the Red Hot Readers contract you return back to the school. The student can choose to read 1, 2, or all 3 of the book selections that are listed each month. Red Hot Readers earn a $0.25 credit toward book purchases at the Spring Scholastic BOGO Book Sale. New this year, fifth graders are only asked to read one book per month and can earn $.01 per page up to $0.75 per month. As a Red Hot Reader, your child's name will be proudly displayed in the library on the Red Hot Readers bulletin board. Be sure to stop by and see it. Click on this link to open a template that you can print out for your child to create his/her own character for the display. Please make sure their name and grade is included in the artwork. To become a Red Hot Reader, you and your child need to fill out the Red Hot Reader's contract and send it back to your child's teacher on or before October 15, 2017. We look forward to another exciting year of Red Hot Readers!
