The Unitarian Church of Barneveld thanks Dr. Jay Williams, longtime friend and sought-after speaker, who served as our minister from September 2011 through December 2012.

The congregation bade farewell to
Rev. Dr. Lynn Ashley upon her retirement at that time, as well, after seven and a half years
of much appreciated ministry. Since Rev. Dr. Williams has been a frequent
speaker and conversation leader at the Unitarian Church in the past,
congregants are grateful for his presence and guidance during our time of
Dr. Williams, a graduate of Hamilton College, earned an M.Div. degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York and a Ph.D. from Columbia University. He specializes in the philosophy of religion and comparative religion, with emphasis on the traditions of South and East Asia as well as those of the West.
The Unitarian Church is located on Park Avenue in Barneveld on the straight-away into the village from the blinking light on Route 12. Sunday services begin at 10:00 am. The doors at Unity Hall open at 9:45 am for Sunday school, except on each first Sunday of the month when young people join with adults for the church service (including on September 11). The Unitarian Church of Barneveld is a place of religious freedom and acceptance—a caring and progressive community of choice and hope.

The Unitarian Church of Barneveld has conferred the title and privileges of Minister Emerita of the Unitarian Universalist Association upon Rev. Dr. Lynn Ashley in recognition of her excellent guidance, love, and nurturing of community. Rev. Ashley served theRev. Ashley retired on June 5, 2011.
The title, Minister Emerita, honors meritorious service and devoted, competent ministerial leadership. It is a special way of honoring the valued relationship between this minister and this church.
Involved in the ceremony in addition to Board President, Barbara Freeman, and Rev. Ashley: Jan Gartner, current Unitarian Universalist Association Development Associate for Religious Education and Music; and David Munro, President of the St. Lawrence District of the UUA.
