About the School Psychology Student Organization

Want to be a part of SPSO next year? Now is your chance!!

SPSO is currently looking for officers for the 2014-2015 school year!

The following positions are available next year and need to be filled as soon as possible:
  • President-Elect
  • Vice President
  • Ph.D. Student Representative
  • Ed.S. Student Representative
  • 2 CSSP Representatives
  • NASP Representative
  • SASP (APA) Representative
Please see the "SPSO Officer Descriptions" document located under the Resources tab for a list and description of the open positions.  Some positions have specific requirements (for example, the SASP representative must be a Ph.D. student, and the two faculty reps need to come from each degree program).

Additionally, please be aware that the position of President is a part-time (10 hr/week) GA position, with eligibility and compensation corresponding to UNC's
GA policies.  Approximately half of the hours are to be spent on SPSO-related activities, and the other half are for administrative tasks for the department.  Nominees for president-elect will need to be interviewed on April 17th and approved by the School Psychology faculty. This information may change and will be updated accordingly. Questions can be directed to Jessica.

If you'd like to join us next year, please send Jessica (byrd6886@bears.unco.edu) an email with the position you would like (and a list of other positions you are interested in as a back-up, if applicable) by April 13th.

What Happens Next?
If you are the only applicant interested in a position, you will automatically be given that position and will be notified the week of April 14th. If 2 or more people are interested in filling the same position, an election will be held during the week of April 14th to determine the person who will be given the position. Interviews for the President-Elect position will be held at a time and location that will be announced shortly. Students who apply for the President-Elect position, but who do not receive it are welcome to apply for another position within SPSO.
