The History Behind Uncovered Myths

Uncovering the societal myths we hide behind.

In one sense, all writing explores the hero's journey.  As does each of our lives.

The Hero's Journey includes several steps:

Current Situation
First Challenge
Denial that Change Will Last
Connections
Submergence into Change
Second Challenge - Anger
Preparing for Further Change
Confrontation - Bargaining
Partial Resolution - May lead to Depression
Search for Normalcy
Third Major Challenge
New Normalcy Accepted

In much modern writing, the current opening situation is forgotten.  When the reader begins reading, they skip the world that existed and mattered to the characters.  The characters are already fully immersed into their first major challenge.  Or, sometimes so far ahead that are are already in the denial stage, denying that their world has changed.

The biggest problem with this is, the reader hasn't connected with the character.  They don't know what mattered to the character. Or, what they are giving up in order to change.

Of course, this is what writers are told to do.  And yet, most new readers who become writers, do so because they miss that opening of the curtains into the world of the character before it tumbles around them.

Uncovered Myths novels uncover many myths society holds most dear.
