Declamation

Declamation is a training category only used by the National Catholic Forensic League. The event is only open to freshmen and sophomores, and involves the recitation of a memorized speech given by another person with a 10 minute time limit. The speech can be cut to fit the time limit or just a section of the speech can be used. Speeches chosen can include commencement speeches to graduating classes at colleges, former original oratories previously used in competetion, and any other sort of speech ever given.
 
From the National Catholic Forensic League:
Open to students in the ninth or tenth grades only. Students must use a speech or portion of a speech previously given by another person. The speech must be memorized with a maximum length of ten minutes.
