UMW Historic Preservation Club's Annual Ghostwalk is a haunted tour of downtown Fredericksburg, VA. Each fall around Halloween, members of the Historic Preservation Club stage a tour complete with costumed guides and ghosts, focusing on the haunted history of what has been called "America's Most Historic Town." Unlike many other haunted tours, Ghostwalk is based on history and what we have been told are actual ghost stories. Most of the walk's material is derived from the book "The Ghosts of Fredericksburg and Nearby Environs" by L.B. Taylor Jr. The city's rich history and ties to many Civil War battles, one fought in and around the city itself, encourages one to consider the paranormal possibilities when wandering the streets of Fredericksburg, especially when the "Ghostwalk" is in progress. Ghostwalk, now in its 31st year, has become a community event. Again the Historic Preservation Club has vowed not to disappoint in the 2015 incarnation of the haunted tour.
